Picture distortion may be caused by the lack of proper aspect ratio settings. You can set the aspect ratio to 4:3 or 16:9 widescreen at the Setup menu of your player. If you play widescreen video on a 4:3 television, you will see black strips on the top and the bottom of the screen so that the whole width of the picture can be seen. Strips can be seen on widescreen televisions too, if the picture was created with an even wider aspect ratio (eg. 2.76:1 or 2.35:1).
